Why do so many people think that being sarcastic and dismissive is cool?

It's such a part of popolar culture now. Look at the highest rated shows on tv. They exist only to be this way. As my mom told me once "How would you feel if someone said that to you"? Maybe some decent folks could be asked that question and would come correct. Most people just don't even realize they are being so rude or that it's really not cool. If more people starting calling others out a bit for this behavior it might help. Don't be rude yourself, but you can kindly remind 'em of how they come across. Don't give up on everyone. We don't all suck!
