Religion and Mythology... difference?

I consider religion to be the lessons that are learned, and mythology is the stories to keep things interesting. So for example, David and Gloliath, Daniel and the Lion, Noah, Jonas and the Whale, and the Creation would be examples of mythology of the Christianity. And the religion would be the teachings like Sermon on the Mound. Anyone have differing definitions?
