Not enough confidence for the job?

I worked as a Nurses Aide and really loved it. I would like to go higher in nursing. However the Registered Nurse is a HUGE job and I just don't think I have the confidence for that. I am planning on taking my LPN and working as that for awhile and than slowly upgrade. But this will take more years of schooling. What would you do?
