Dental spacers?

ahhhh! they hurt like hell! ive had them before but they werent as sensitive. if anythin touches them i start cryin. (yes i know im a wuss) i am on iburprofine but it dont help! i heard that you should swish some warm salt water. why? what does the salt water do to my teeth? do u recomend it?
